Max Martenot 2.0 is our second iteration of Max Martenot 1.0, one of Avrosh Kumar's projects from when he was a Music Technology masters student at Georgia Tech. His original project can be found here. Max Martenot is inspired by the Ondes Martenot, one of the earliest electronic musical instruments, invented in 1928 by Maurice Martenot. Max Martenot, like Ondes Martenot, has a continuous slide controller to control pitch. Max Martenot 2.0 also draws inspiration from the Theremin, also invented in 1928, by allowing players to expressively control volume using their hand's proximity to the instrument.
